Comprehensive hearing services in Aiken and North Augusta.

Our Services

At Hearing Associates of South Carolina, we provide our patients with a wide range of comprehensive services to help them with every part of their hearing health. Whether you want to have your hearing tested for the first time or you are looking for custom hearing protection, we can help you. Our team of audiologists can help you regardless of the degree of your hearing loss, lifestyle, or budget.

Services We Provide:

Hearing Evaluations

We offer complete hearing evaluations to assess the type and degree of your hearing loss. During the hearing evaluation, we will have you sit in a sound booth and perform a variety of hearing tests, including Tympanometry and Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs). These will help us to diagnose how severe your hearing loss is by assessing what tones and frequencies you are having trouble hearing. Our hearing tests are quick and painless.

Hearing Aid Fitting

Our audiologists will expertly fit your hearing aids to the unique shape of your ear. Hearing aids should be comfortable and fit just right inside your ear. Your hearing aids should never feel uncomfortable or cause you pain. During your fitting, we will program your hearing aids to your individual hearing needs, so they can provide you with optimal support for your hearing loss.

Hearing Aid Follow-Up

We recommend all our patients come in every three to six months for their hearing aids to be professionally cleaned and checked. Hearing aids are an investment, and you want your investment to last you for many years. By bringing your hearing aids in regularly for follow-ups, you are ensuring your hearing aids continue to provide you with better hearing for the years to come.

Hearing Aid Maintenance

Taking care of your hearing aids is important for the longevity of your devices. The most common causes of hearing aid failure are earwax accumulation and moisture damage. Regularly cleaning your hearing aids or bringing them in for regular deep cleanings will ensure all earwax is thoroughly removed. It is also important to store your hearing aids in a dry, safe space when not wearing them. If your hearing aids need any repairs, we can fix most problems in-office. Sometimes more serious repairs require us to send your hearing aids to the manufacturer so they can be fixed.

Hearing Aid Batteries

WARNING: All hearing aid batteries are toxic and dangerous if swallowed. Keep all batteries away from children and pets. Most hearing aid batteries have a life span of 5-15 days, depending on the usage and the degree of your hearing loss. To preserve the life span of your battery it helps to open the battery door to your hearing aids when you are not using them.

Earplugs and Musicians Plugs

We can make custom earmolds for earplugs and in-ear monitors for musicians. Custom hearing protection is a great way to protect your hearing from loud noise exposure and noise-induced hearing loss. We recommend wearing hearing protection whenever you are exposed to loud noise, such as when you are shooting a gun while hunting, listening to live music, using power tools, or watching fireworks.

Cerumen Removal

Cerumen (earwax) can build-up inside the ear canal and cause a blockage, affecting your hearing ability. We can safely and effectively remove earwax in our office to help you hear better.

Cochlear Implant Evaluations

Our doctors of audiology can provide cochlear implant evaluations for adults and children with severe hearing loss. We will test your hearing and speech understanding both with and without your hearing aids. This will determine if you would benefit from a cochlear implant. Call our office for more information about cochlear implants or to schedule an appointment.

Tinnitus Management

Tinnitus, commonly known as “ringing in the ears,” affects millions of Americans. Tinnitus can range from mildly annoying to debilitating and affects each person differently. The symptoms of tinnitus can be experienced as a ringing, buzzing, humming, or whooshing sound inside your ears or head. Our team of audiologists can help you manage the symptoms of your tinnitus. We offer counseling for our patients so they can learn how to reduce stress (one of the main contributors of tinnitus). We also offer hearing aids that have a tinnitus masking feature that will play soothing sounds in your ears, providing you with relief.

Industrial Hearing Testing

Companies with employees exposed to a time-weighted average (TWA) sound level above 85 dB must have a hearing conservation program in place in order to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA/MSHA) compliance standards.

At Hearing Associates of South Carolina, we provide industrial hearing tests to help your company meet this standard. It’s important to understand that hearing testing is just one phase of the OSHA program mandated Hearing Conservation Program for hazardous noise exposed workers.

OSHA also requires noise management and annual employee training as part of a Hearing Conservation Program. We offer the flexibility and capability to meet your specific needs as you design a Hearing Conservation Program for your company.

Our Hearing Conservation Program provides onsite hearing testing, scheduled at a convenient time for you. Our service is designed with the following objectives in mind:

  • Professionalism
  • Flexibility
  • Availability
  • Cost Effectiveness
  • Quality Assurance
